This handsome 1937 advertising poster was created by Marcello Dudovich for Pedoavena, a beer brand rooted in the brewing traditions of northern Italy’s Veneto region, where Alpine spring water and a long history of brewing combined to produce beers with a loyal following.

Marcello Dudovich (1878-1962) was, by 1937, already established as one of the most celebrated commercial artists in Italian history, with decades of work for Rinascente, Mele and ENIT behind him. His advertising posters combined sophisticated composition with an unmistakable warmth and elegance — qualities that elevated even everyday products like beer into images of considerable charm and style.

The 1930s were a significant period for Italian beer advertising, as breweries sought to position their products as part of a modern, convivial lifestyle. Dudovich’s poster for Pedoavena captures exactly this spirit — refined, inviting, and quintessentially Italian in its sense of conviviality.
