A classic British Railways seaside poster capturing the timeless charm of Scarborough, Yorkshire’s most storied coastal resort. The golden sands, historic harbour and sweeping South Bay made Scarborough one of the great railway holiday destinations of the twentieth century, and this 1960 design belongs to the final flowering of the railway poster golden age.

British Railway’s “Go By Train” campaigns of this era celebrated the great British seaside holiday with bold colour and optimistic imagery — an era of bucket-and-spade family trips before the package holiday boom changed travel forever.
