This striking advertising poster from the 1920s was created by Giorgio Muggiani for Sila Acqua, a mineral water brand drawing its name from the Sila — the high plateau of forests and lakes in Calabria, southern Italy, long prized for the purity of its natural springs.

Giorgio Muggiani (1887-1938) was a versatile Italian artist and graphic designer who worked across illustration, advertising and publishing during the 1920s, a period when Italian commercial art was experiencing a remarkable flowering of bold, modern visual language. His advertising work for various Italian brands of the era is notable for its clarity and confident use of colour and form, hallmarks of the best Italian graphic design of the period.
