Alphonse Mucha’s ethereal poster for Ruinart — the oldest champagne house in the world, founded in Reims in 1729 — is a jewel of early Art Nouveau. A graceful woman with flowing hair raises her glass amid decorative panels and floral ornament, in the sinuous, dreamlike style that made Mucha the defining artist of the Belle Époque.
