Toulouse-Lautrec’s second immortal portrait of the cabaret legend Aristide Bruant — the scarred, scarf-wrapped chansonnier who ruled Montmartre with his acerbic wit and unforgettable stage presence. Lautrec’s 1893 design distils Bruant’s swagger into a silhouette of pure attitude.

Bruant’s image, as shaped by Lautrec, became one of the defining icons of Belle Époque Paris — endlessly reproduced, instantly recognisable, and still one of the most beloved subjects in vintage poster collecting.
